Penrhyn’s Under 17’s Lose In Final

September 16th, 2008

Penrhyn’s youngsters failed at the final hurdle in the Gary Pugh Memorial Cup on Sunday 14th September 2008 – in the group stages they played Talybont (won 5-0), Flames (Drew 1-1), Felinfach (won 1-0) and Aber Town (lost 2-1) – this meant that Penrhyn played Aber Town in the Final – our youngsters gave a good account of themselves but eventually lost by 2-0 – despite being prompted to put in a protest as Aber had played an over aged player – Penrhyns’ management overwhelmingly decided not to go down that avenue as the tournament was in memory of the late Gary Pugh whose attitude was to let the players play football and to enjoy it whatever the ability.

TEAM – JENKINS, HARVEY, MORGAN, EVANS, EVANS, GRIFFITHS, SOUTH, RICHARDS, ELWILL(Capt), DAVIES and THOMAS.

Goalscorers – D Griffiths (3), R Davies (2), J Thomas, M South and an own goal.
